INVESTIGATION CAREERS USING THE DOT

 

In this three-step activity, you will get first-hand experience using the DOT to research your careers. You will gather information about them online and answer some questions about your discoveries. This activity is required and graded as complete/not complete. 

Copy this document and paste it onto a Word document before you complete it.

 

Instructions:

Step 1: List in the table below the careers you decided to investigate. Look up the DOT classification number of each of your four careers. Search for your careers alphabetically. For example, if you're investigating Automobile Mechanic, look under the letter A for Automobile. You may need to scroll down the page a little to find this list.

Step 2: Using the DOT numbers you entered above, look up information about your four jobs using their DOT numbers. Scroll down the Web page until you get to the list of numbers. Find the link containing your occupational numbers and click. Scroll down the list of numbers and jobs until you find the description of the one you're looking for. Read the paragraph for each job and go to Step 3.

Step 3: For each of the four jobs, list one aspect of the job that you didn't know before. Type this information in the spaces provided. Follow the example:
